"Becoming a Children's Author"
Written by Jennifer Bond Reed, illustrated by Kevin Scott Collier. 'Wee Ones' magazine publisher Reed guides aspiring writers through the steps to becoming a children's book author.
Working with Brighter Future Organization
Tangerine Sky Productions, Ltd. is working with the Brighter Future Organization to develop a book for young men. "Dare to be Positive" is a spearhead initiative that encourages young men to dream big and to have hope for their future. It encourages building strong, open relationships with other men. "Men are told to be tough," said CEO and founder Melvin Lars, "but on the inside they're just dying." The formidable Lars, a former principal and NFL draft pick for the LA Raiders, started this program to show young men that there IS hope for their future and that their dreams CAN come true.
Participants in the "Dare to be Positive" program, currently being administered in the Muskegon Heights Middle School, Muskegon, MI, in conjunction with Tangerine Sky Productions, Ltd. are working on a book about hope and making their dreams coming true. This book will be a compilation of all member's works, whether illustration, poetry, short story, etc. Participants average age is 13.
"When Kevin was young, his teachers told him he'd never be able to draw and that he wouldn't be any good at writing," said wife, Kristen. "With over 50 books produced in about two years ON TOP of working his day job, he's shown them wrong. Kevin is all about inspiring people to make their dreams come true. He would tell you to let nothing stop you!"
